A Canberra trading card store, The Collectors Colloseum, was recently targeted by thieves, resulting in the theft of rare and valuable Pokemon cards. The estimated value of the stolen items is a staggering $150,000. The incident occurred in the early hours of the morning, with the store owner, Ben Pye, receiving an alert on his phone about the triggered alarm. Despite the store's security system, the burglar managed to enter and steal a significant number of graded cards, which are highly sought-after by collectors. Mr. Pye believes the burglar had a difficult time entering the store, but was able to take the cards during a second attempt before police arrived. The unique serial numbers on the cards have been shared with others, and the community of card collectors is being asked for help in tracking down the offender. This incident highlights the increasing value and desirability of Pokemon cards, which have been rapidly rising in value, making them a prime target for petty crime.
