When it comes to the World Baseball Classic, the excitement is palpable, especially with star players from the Arizona Diamondbacks set to showcase their talent on an international stage. This year, standout athletes Corbin Carroll, Geraldo Perdomo, Ketel Marte, and Nolan Arenado are all primed to represent their countries in this prestigious tournament, as the complete rosters were unveiled on Thursday.
Corbin Carroll will don the uniform for Team USA, which is eager to bounce back after a heartbreaking loss to Japan in the championship match last year. The dramatic conclusion featured the legendary Shohei Ohtani striking out his former Angels teammate, Mike Trout. Carroll will be joining other MLB luminaries such as Aaron Judge, Cal Raleigh, Paul Skenes, and Tarik Skubal on a revamped U.S. roster that promises to be competitive.
Meanwhile, both Perdomo and Marte will form their double-play partnership for the Dominican Republic. This team has undergone significant changes following their disappointing exit from the group stage in the previous tournament. They will be joined by new Diamondbacks first baseman Carlos Santana, who was part of the 2013 Dominican squad that clinched the WBC title.
Before Nolan Arenado, a 10-time Gold Glove winner, embarks on his journey with the Diamondbacks after a major offseason trade, he will be competing for Puerto Rico. Although he previously represented Team USA in the 2017 and 2023 World Baseball Classics, this time he chooses to honor his mother’s heritage.
In an exciting twist, outfield prospect Druw Jones is set to make his WBC debut for Team Netherlands, under the management of none other than his father, Andruw Jones, a recent Hall of Fame inductee. This father-son duo makes history as the first manager-player pair in the annals of the World Baseball Classic.
The rosters include:
- Team USA: OF Corbin Carroll
- Dominican Republic: 2B Ketel Marte, SS Geraldo Perdomo, 1B Carlos Santana

- Taijuan Walker with Team Mexico
- Jazz Chisholm Jr., a top prospect, for Great Britain
The World Baseball Classic format kicks off with group play starting on March 5, but teams will also engage in exhibition matches at spring training facilities on March 3 and 4. Notably, the Diamondbacks will host Team Mexico at Salt River Fields on March 3. Additionally, Team USA will face the San Francisco Giants at Scottsdale Stadium on March 3 and play against the Colorado Rockies at Salt River Fields on March 4.
The participating teams are divided into four pools:
- Pool A: Cuba, Panama, Colombia, Canada, Puerto Rico
- Pool B: United States, Mexico, Great Britain, Brazil, Italy
- Pool C: Japan, Taiwan, Korea, Australia, Czechia
- Pool D: Dominican Republic, Venezuela, Israel, Nicaragua, Netherlands
